G7 leaders committed to continue helping Ukraine, including with weapons
BRUSSELS. Oct 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The leaders of the G7 countries on Tuesday reiterated their readiness to continue to support Ukraine, supply it with weapons and provide humanitarian assistance.
"We reassured President Zelenskyy that we are undeterred and steadfast in our commitment to providing the support Ukraine needs to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity," the G7 leaders said in a joint statement following their meeting.
According to the document, these countries are ready to provide Kyiv with "financial, humanitarian, military, diplomatic and legal support, and will stand firmly with Ukraine for as long as it takes."
"We will continue to coordinate efforts to meet Ukraine’s urgent requirements for military and defense equipment," they said in the statement.
In addition, the G7 leaders said that they are committed to supporting Ukraine in meeting its winter preparedness needs.
The G7, among other things, again condemned the recent strikes on Ukrainian territory. The leaders of these countries also called on Belarus not to support the Russian military.
In addition, the G7 welcomed the investigation into incidents of gas leaks from the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.
The G7 leaders on Tuesday held a virtual gathering to discuss the situation in Ukraine. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky took part in the video call.
