G7 ambassadors concerned about govt interference in management of GTSOU, Ukrenergo
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The G7 ambassadors to Ukraine expressed their concern about the interference of the authorities in the management of state-owned Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC (GTSOU) and PrJSC NPC Ukrenergo.
"Holding fast to OECD Corporate governance reforms at Ukrainian SOEs will increase investor confidence, stop corruption, and speed Ukrainian reconstruction post war," according to a tweet from the G7 ambassadors on Sunday night.
Ten days earlier, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, following a meeting with Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko, also said that Ukraine needs transparent management of state-owned enterprises in accordance with OECD standards so that it remains strong in the face of Russian aggression, especially Ukrenergo and GTSOU.
As reported, the Supervisory Board of the Main Gas Pipelines of Ukraine, by a decision dated September 16, 2022, by four votes to one, terminated the powers of Serhiy Makogon, General Director of GTSOU, when he was on a business trip. Makogon later revealed that he plans to challenge his dismissal.
