French experts identify weapons used to shell evacuation convoy in Kharkiv region – regional prosecutor
KHARKIV. Oct 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – French experts examined 16 out of 26 bodies of those killed in the shelling of a civilian evacuation convoy near the village of Kurylivka, Kharkiv region, as well as two out of six vehicles that were part of the convoy, head of the regional prosecutor’s office Oleksandr Filchakov said.
"On the car bodies, parts of high-explosive shells of 30 and 45 mm were found. According to the findings of our French colleagues, they belong to military guns located on heavy military equipment BMP-2 [infantry combat vehicle] and BRM 3K Rys [combat reconnaissance vehicle]. These vehicles are in service with the Russian army. In addition, metal remains of shells were found in 16 civilian corpses they examined. They identified these shells and the weapon they were fired from… It looks like VOG-17 and VOG-25 [fragmentation grenade launcher shots]," Filchakov said at a briefing on Thursday.
According to him, 27 forensic and eight forensic molecular genetic examinations were appointed in criminal proceedings.
As reported, on October 1, near the village of Kurylivka, in the so-called gray zone between occupied Svatove of Luhansk region and liberated Kupiansk in Kharkiv region, a civilian evacuation convoy of six old cars and 1 GAZelle truck was found, which was shelled by the invaders on September 25.
The shelling killed 24 people, including 13 children and a pregnant woman. Later, two more victims were discovered, bringing the total death toll from the convoy to 26.
