France considering possibility of training Ukrainian pilots – media
BRUSSELS. Jan 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Paris is considering Ukraine’s request for the training of fighter pilots, Politico said, citing French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
According to him, the Defense Ministers of France and Ukraine should discuss this during a phone conversation this week.
Head of the French Defense Committee in the National Assembly Thomas Gassillou expressed the opinion in an interview with the publication that it makes sense to train Ukrainian pilots on French fighters if Paris decides to provide Kyiv with aircraft.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine cannot be ruled out, but only if this does not lead to an escalation and does not harm the defense capability of the French army.
