Format of talks on European security guarantees to be chosen in near future – Peskov
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) – There will soon be clarity on the precise configuration and the specific participants in the body where European security guarantees will be discussed, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists asked Peskov at a press briefing on Thursday about the format for the pending negotiations and the composition and name of the relevant body.
"That’s completely irrelevant. The name wouldn’t change the essence," Peskov said.
"For now, there is no clarity on the configuration of this body, and there is no clear idea of who exactly will be taking part in the talks – all these issues are to be clarified in the near future," he said.
Journalists asked whether Russia might object to the participation of NATO members other than the United States in the body.
"We cannot say, because we simply have no idea as to how everything will be arranged," Peskov said.
