FM Logistic Ukraine develops direction of urban logistics
KYIV. Oct 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – FM Logistic Ukraine is developing the direction of urban logistics, CEO of FM Logistic Ukraine Sebastien Lardellier said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"In February of this year, we singled out the direction of urban logistics. We have several clients, we already carry out several hundred deliveries a week," he said.
According to the expert, this sector in Ukraine is not very significant yet, but it is rapidly developing in the world.
"In Spain, for example, this [urban logistics] is already 50% of our business," he said.
Urban logistics is everything related to the last mile, targeted delivery to the door of a specific business, store, restaurant, office, as well as city warehouses, dark stores and other formats close to the end consumer.
The director also said that the company is in talks to participate in dark store projects.
"Such negotiations are underway with our clients. But when they come to implementation I cannot say," he said.
At the same time, he noted the rapid growth of e-commerce.
"About 20% of supplies in Europe in general are connected with Internet trade, while last year 60% of new contracts are connected with e-commerce. In Ukraine, approximately the same figures," he said.
In addition, according to him, over the past year and a half, many clients of FM Logistic Ukraine have accelerated the implementation of their omnichannel projects.
"What was planned in five years, was done in six months. Now all retail clients are omnichannel to one degree or another, some manufacturers are not yet, it depends on the type of product," he said.
FM Logistic Ukraine, operating since 1996, is included in the top five largest operators of the logistics market in Ukraine. It is part of the international group of companies FM Logistic.
