Finance Minister expects growth of state budget deficit in Dec to 3-3.5% of GDP
KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) -Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko expects a significant increase in the state budget deficit in December – up to 3-3.5% of GDP.
"For the 11 months of 2021, the actual budget deficit is about 1% of GDP, but December is a difficult month, a lot of expenditures need to be financed. Therefore, in December the size of the deficit will increase significantly," he said on the sidelines of parliament after the adoption of the state budget for 2022.
"It is significant – this means, perhaps, 3-3.5%. But now I am afraid to predict, since changes to the budget are planned," the minister added.
As reported, the general fund of the state budget of Ukraine for January-November 2021 posted a deficit of UAH 57.4 billion, while the target for the reporting period amounted to UAH 175.7 billion, that is, less than a third of the plan. Taking into account the data released earlier, in November the deficit of the general fund amounted to about UAH 2.5 billion.
