Filling Russia's info field with lies, manipulative information aimed at misleading its own citizens – Tkachenko

KYIV. Sept 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko says that filling Russia’s information field with lies and manipulative information is aimed at misleading its own citizens.

"Filling Russia’s information field with lies and manipulative information is the content only for one’s own viewer, one’s own use. It’s just spam, so that an ordinary Russian never even had a chance to think, analyze, find where the truth is, where the half-truth is, and where the outright lie is," Tkachenko wrote in the Telegram channel.

As an example, the minister cites information that the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) allegedly declassified data on the executions of civilians by "Ukrainian punitive forces" during World War II.

"A group of former Red Army soldiers and civilians working for the Nazis allegedly committed murders in Orel region. But if you read beyond the aggressive headline, which already sounds like a verdict, you can see that the Russians themselves killed residents of the Orel region. At least 80% of the "punitive detachment", including three commanders, are residents of the Kaluga region, Siberia, Ivanovo, near Briansk. Only two are reported to be somewhere from Ukraine and two other people without indicating the origin. That was enough to call the predominantly Russian group of collaborators ‘Ukrainian punishers," Tkachenko wrote.

According to the Minister, this "information intrusion" is connected with the finding of Ukrainian researchers near Odesa, who began to actively investigate the special object of the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs (NKVD) of the USSR at the 6th kilometer of the Ovidiopol road.

"According to various estimates, between 5,000 and 20,000 civilians, tortured and shot by the Bolsheviks, were buried in its territory as a result of the Great Terror in 1937-1939. This is a crime, the proof of which is not just archival materials, but execution pits filled with the bodies of innocent victims. Ukrainians. Odesa residents. This is a real mass crime committed by the communist totalitarian system, the heir of which is modern Russia. Obviously, Ukraine’s intention to investigate the site of mass burials and executions is in sharp contrast to the plans of ‘greatness’ and ‘good Stalin," he said.
