Fighters of Armed Forces of Ukraine to be paid wage arrears soon – Zaluzhny
KYIV. Sept 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will soon be paid wage arrears, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhny said.
"…The funds, as far as I understand – the Minister of Defense held a meeting last week, have already been allocated and will be allocated in the near future. The relocation allowances will be paid, the sublease will be paid. Let it be for now. At least, the state, represented by the Ministry of Finance, assures the Ministry of Defense that everything will be paid," Zaluzhny said in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty on Saturday.
According to him, such payments were suspended due to the fact that less money was allocated in the state budget. "Not because there was ‘bad’ Khomchak [ex-commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak], or there was ‘bad’ Taran [Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran], they could not agree among themselves that the soldiers would be paid money. No! There was less money initially allocated in the budget, so they received less," the commander-in-chief said.
