Expenditure on salaries of military personnel grows by 41.6% in Aug – Ministry of Finance

KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Cash expenditures for the monetary maintenance of military personnel in August rose to UAH 87.8 billion from UAH 62 billion in July, or by 41.6%, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported on Monday, citing data from the State Treasury.

According to them, in the overall structure of cash expenditures, their share reached 41.3% from 35.4% in July, while all cash expenditures of the state budget in August increased to UAH 212.7 billion from UAH 174.9 billion in July.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, UAH 375.6 billion, or 31.3% of all expenditures of the general fund of the state budget (UAH 1,200.8 billion), has been allocated to pay salaries to military personnel.

In general, the expenditures of the general fund of the state budget for wages with accruals in August amounted to UAH 112.4 billion, or 52.8% of expenditures, and since the beginning of the war – UAH 499 billion, or 41.6%.

In addition, since the end of February, another UAH 149.7 billion, or 12.5%, has been spent to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the form of the purchase of military equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, personal protective equipment, including UAH 14.6 billion in August, or 6.9%.

According to the Ministry of Finance, since the beginning of the war, 21.7% of all spending, or UAH 257.4 billion (in August it was UAH 43.2 billion), has been for social security. Including UAH 111.3 billion was transferred to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, UAH 78.2 billion were payments to the Ministry of Social Policy of benefits, compensations, benefits and housing subsidies, as well as monthly targeted assistance to internally displaced persons, and UAH 30.4 billion was assistance under the E-Aid program.

Of the remaining expenses, 5.9-6.5% fell on the National Health Service of Ukraine for the implementation of the program of state guarantees of medical care – UAH 73.9 billion (in August it was UAH 11.7 billion), public debt servicing – UAH 77.5 billion (in August it was UAH 12.3 billion) and transfers to local budgets – UAH 70.5 billion (in August it was UAH 6.4 billion).

As reported by the Ministry of Finance with reference to preliminary data, the revenues of the general fund of the state budget in August grew by 20.5% compared to July, to UAH 204.6 billion from UAH 169.6 billion. This was largely made possible due to an increase in grant assistance to UAH 109.7 billion from UAH 80.4 billion in July.

In June, the general fund of the state budget received UAH 97.3 billion (external grants were UAH 38.12 billion), while cash expenditures amounted to UAH 232.4 billion.
