Ex-President Kocharyan announces street rallies to demand Pashinyan's resignation
YEREVAN. Oct 4 (Interfax) – Former Armenian President and head of the Armenia opposition bloc Robert Kocharyan has announced the resumption of street rallies to demand the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
"We will be fighting, there will be fighting on the streets. It is necessary to work with people and engage them in the active struggle," Kocharyan said at a press conference on Monday.
The goal of the Armenia bloc is change of regime in Armenia, he said.
"We will be cooperating with all forces that view the incumbent authorities as traitors and defeatists," Kocharyan said.
The Armenia bloc has a faction of the same name in the Armenian parliament.
Largescale street protests demanding Pashinyan’s resignation which began immediately after the Karabakh war in the fall of 2020 did not bring any tangible results for the opposition. The opposition failed to win the early parliamentary elections in June 2021, and it was defeated by Pashinyan’s party.
