Ex-director of Ukrburshtyn notified of suspicion of appropriation of enterprise property

KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The former director of Ukrburshtyn state enterprise and his accomplices have been notified of suspicion of an attempt to seize the company’s property, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) reports.

"On October 12, 2022, under the procedural guidance of SAPO prosecutors, the NABU investigators notified the former director of Ukrburshtyn state enterprise and two other persons of suspicion in a completed attempt to take possession of other people’s property and official forgery," the SAPO said on Wednesday.

According to the prosecutor’s office, in September 2020, a subsidiary of the State Joint-Stock Company Ukrainian Polymetals and Ukrburshtyn entered into an agreement for the safekeeping of scientific and technical documentation worth UAH 58.764 million.

"However, within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, it turned out that the documentation transferred for storage does not exist. Later, the director of Ukrburshtyn staged the "stealing" of these "documents." After that, a debt to the private society was formed. In order to recover the debt, the accomplices of the crime filed applications with the Economic Court of Kyiv, which is considering the bankruptcy case of the subsidiary," the SAPO informs.

To date, the investigation has established the involvement of three people in this crime: the director of the company and two more citizens, one of whom is the organizer of the criminal scheme.
