Ex-board chairman of VEON Gazin heads supervisory board of Kyivstar
KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Gennady Gazin, who from June 2020 to June 2022 headed the board of directors of the parent company VEON, has been appointed Head of the Supervisory Board of the largest Ukrainian mobile network operator Kyivstar.
According to Kyivstar, Gazin replaced Kaan Terzioğlu at the position.
The company recalled that its supervisory board consists of seven directors, among whom are citizens of Ukraine, the European Union, the United States and Turkey, and it manages the company within its competence. In particular, the board determines the main directions of the company’s activities, approving decisions regarding important contracts with national and foreign partners, convenes general meetings of shareholders and agrees on their agenda, and also makes decisions on Kyivstar’s participation in other legal entities.
Gazin was born in Zhytomyr. He is a citizen of the United States. He has experience in Bell Communications Research, worked for McKinsey & Company for more than 14 years, including a senior partner, was one of the leaders in the field of telecommunications, media and new technologies. In addition, from 2007 to 2012 he was the CEO of the EastOne Group, which unites the assets of the Ukrainian businessman Victor Pinchuk, he is a member of the directors of several U.S. and Ukrainian AI & IT companies, such as Zibra AI, PAWA, Greenscreens.
