European integration subcommittees to be created in Rada by Aug 29 – Stefanchuk
KYIV. Aug 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada plans to create special subcommittees by August 29 that will deal with issues of European integration of Ukraine, Chairman of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
"All the subcommittees should be created by August 29. This week I will gather the heads of the committees in order to find out how the preparations are going. And from August 29, we begin to act according to new rules related to the structure of committees, the passage of bills in parliament, the preparation of amendments to the regulations that will legitimize it, with increased expertise of these bills both from the Cabinet of Ministers and from the parliament," Stefanchuk said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
At the same time, according to him, the Rada will also determine the exact number of directives that need to be implemented in domestic legislation so that "Ukraine receives another ‘yes’ from the European Union."
Earlier, Stefanchuk informed that due to the need to prepare and adopt European integration bills and documents related to the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership, special subcommittees will be created in parliamentary committees.
In addition, in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine agency, he also noted that the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine have developed a procedure for preparing European integration bills, according to which they must contain special tables of compliance with EU directives and regulations by August 29.
