European Commission President praises Ukraine's pace, determination, accuracy on its way towards EU
KYIV. Sept 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen praised Ukraine’s pace, determination and accuracy on its way towards the EU membership.
She said that the process of integration was successful, adding that the pace, determination and accuracy of Ukraine’s progress were impressive. Von der Leyen also reaffirmed the European Commission’s support for Ukraine. Ukraine accelerates the European integration process and this is very good, she said at a press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Thursday.
According to the European Commission President, Ukraine and the EU have agreed to work as much as possible in order to make sure that Ukraine has more business and more incomes, which means as open access to the European single market as it is possible for Ukraine.
Von der Leyen also recalled that at the beginning of the war there was a plan that Ukraine’s power grid would be connected to the European system in 2024. However, this has been done in two weeks, she said, adding that Ukraine already supplies electricity to the EU and this should be improved and increased in order to create a stable flow of income for Ukraine.
