EU to unfreeze assets of certain previously sanctioned Russian individuals to ensure fertilizers, food trade
BRUSSELS. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In order to ensure uninterrupted food trade, the European Union decided to unfreeze assets of certain individuals, who previously came under sanctions against Russia, according to the press release published on the website of the European Council on Friday, December 16.
"It was decided to introduce a new derogation allowing to unfreeze assets of, and to make funds and economic resources available to, certain individuals who held a significant role in international trade in agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizers, prior to their listing," the document says.
The names of the individuals were not mentioned in the press release.
