EU raises EUR 2 bln for MFA to support Ukraine

KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Commission has attracted EUR 11 billion by placing seven-year bonds for EUR 5 billion and 20-year bonds for EUR 6 billion, of which EUR 2 billion will be used to support Ukraine under the EU’s macro-financial assistance (MFA) programme, the European Commission said on its website.

"EU funding is a concrete expression of solidarity with Ukraine and Member States recovering from the pandemic. Today, we have successfully and under challenging market conditions raised a further EUR 11 billion. Of them, EUR 2 billion will be released swiftly to help Ukraine in this war of aggression on European soil," Commissioner in charge of Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, said.

The European Commission recalled that earlier this year it already provided EUR 2.2 billion to Ukraine.
