EU, NATO ready to response to Russia's actions in Ukraine as harshly as they reacted to Belarus's actions – Estonian PM
TALLINN. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said the EU and NATO are ready to response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine as harshly as they reacted to Belarus’s actions.
"Both the EU and NATO are following the developments closely. We are ready to respond to any aggression against our partner countries – the actions of Russia in Ukraine will not go unanswered by us, or by our allies," she said in a statement at the meeting of the heads of government of the Baltic states in Vilnius on Wednesday, December 8.
According to her, "just as we have been able to maintain a strong line in the EU in imposing sanctions on Belarus, we are ready to react jointly and swiftly as Russia continues to escalate towards Ukraine."
The Prime Minister believes that the threats and aggressive policies of Russia are increasing. In addition, "in addition to the increase in hostile messages, we are also seeing more active military action by Russia towards Ukraine."
"We see a desire to divide Europe into spheres of influence by force or by threatening it. This is an unacceptable and morally unsound policy. And this must be made clear to Russia," Kallas said.
