EU Member States discussing sixth tranche of defense assistance to Ukraine – Stano
KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Lead Spokesperson of the European Commission for Foreign Affairs Peter Stano has said that High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell will soon announce the sixth tranche of financing defense assistance to Ukraine.
"As the High Representative said last week at the European Parliament, he is going to make an announcement on the sixth tranche. We are still discussing it with Member States at present, they must approved this," he said during a press briefing in Brussels on Wednesday.
"But as we said, we are prepared to continue our support to Ukraine at the political and military level as well," Stano said.
As reported, in July, the European Council approved the fifth tranche of defense assistance to Ukraine for EUR 500 million, which total the overall volume of assistance at EUR 2.5 billion.
