EU financial aid package for Ukraine to be presented next week – von der Leyen talks with Zelensky
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a phone conversation that she will offer a financial assistance package from the EU worth up to EUR 1.5 billion per month for a total amount of up to EUR 18 billion as early as next week.
As reported on the European Commission’s website on Sunday, the EU financial package should be accompanied by similar support from other major donors. Von der Leyen reaffirmed the EU’s ongoing work to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, especially in winter.
The interlocutors also discussed the importance of ensuring the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to different countries of the world, the tightening of sanctions, as well as the negative role of Iran’s support for Russian aggression and retaliatory measures.
