EU considering setting up military training mission in Ukraine – media
KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Union is considering the possibility of creating a military training mission in Ukraine, which would become an expression of solidarity with the Ukrainian state due to the ongoing military activities of the Russian Federation, according to the German publication Welt am Sonntag.
According to the ezine, to deal with the continuing tension between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the EU is considering the formation of an independent military training mission entitled the "EU Military Advisory and Training Mission in Ukraine" (EUATM).
As reported, the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine requested the creation of an EU military training mission, who sent a letter to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell at the end of July.
