EU ambassadors approve sanctions for Iran for its involvement in war between Russia and Ukraine
BRUSSELS. Oct 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The ambassadors of the European Union member states have approved sanctions for Iran for its involvement in the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.
As a European diplomat told the Interfax-Ukraine agency in Brussels on Wednesday, the decision was approved literally fifteen minutes before our conversation and will be approved in writing with further publication on Thursday.
He said that sanctions had been approved against three individuals and a drone manufacturing company.
According to the document at the agency’s disposal, Shahed Aviation Industries, the company responsible for the design and development of the Iranian Shahed UAV, was sanctioned. The document says that secret series of drones was supplied to the Russian Federation and is being used in an aggressive war against Ukraine. Consequently, Shahed Aviation Industries is responsible for supporting the government of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilization of Ukraine.
The list also includes Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Commander of the Aerospace Corps of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Saeed Aghajani, and Khojatola Goreishi, who is responsible for logistics in the Iranian Ministry of Defense.
