EP almost unanimously thinks Ukraine should become EU member state – Metsola
KYIV. Jan 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Parliament almost unanimously, which rarely happens, thinks Ukraine should become a member state of the European Union, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has said.
"Now the European Parliament is almost unanimously, which rarely happens, thinks Ukraine should become a member of the EU. In June, every prime minister, every president of the country said that Ukraine should become a member of the EU. This shows that it is politically possible to achieve things that seem impossible if done correctly. And here the role of the European Parliament, it seems to me, plays an important role," she said during a discussion within the framework of the UKRAINE IS YOU project at the Global Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday.
Metsola admitted that on March 1 last year, when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the European Parliament and said that Ukraine should become a member of the EU, everyone felt that the Ukrainian leader was rushing things.
