Energy Ministry ready to take over regional power distribution companies – dpty minister

KYIV. Sept 8 (Energy Reform) – The Ministry of Energy has already agreed with the Ministry of Economy and prepared a letter to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the transfer of operators of electricity distribution systems with state corporate rights to the Ministry of Energy, First Deputy Energy Minister Yuriy Vlasenko has said.

"Yesterday we signed a letter with approval from the Ministry of Economy regarding the transfer of regional power distribution companies to our management," he said, answering questions from journalists during the energy forum in Kyiv, organized by Energy club, on Wednesday.

According to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of April 30, put into effect by presidential decree No. 452 of August 28, regional power distribution companies with state part should be excluded from the privatization lists and transferred to the management of the Ministry of Energy from the State Property Fund (SPF).

As reported, for several years, blocks of shares of 70% in Khmelnytskoblenergo and Mykolaivoblenergo, 65% in Kharkivoblenergo, 60.25% in Zaporizhiaoblenergo and 50.99% in Ternopiloblenergo are being prepared for privatization. In June this year, the SPF presented an updated privatization schedule, in which the sale of four regional power distribution companies (Mykolaiv-, Kharkiv-, Zaporizhia- and Khmelnytskoblenergo) is scheduled for February 2022, while two more companies (Ternopil- and Cherkasyoblenergo) are not yet available.
