Energoatom increases electricity sales by 12%, revenue by 49% in Aug

KYIV. Sept 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Energoatom’s separate subdivision Energoatom-Trading in August 2021 sold 6.36 MWh of electricity, which is 12% more than in the same period last year, and increased revenue by 49%, to UAH 6.26 billion, according to a company’s press release on Friday.

"Due to improved efficiency of electricity sales in all market segments, the volume of imbalances in August 2021 decreased to 2% [from 17% in August 2020], which was the best performance since the new electricity market launching, i.e. from July 1, 2019," the company said.

The company, in particular, sold under bilateral agreements (excluding PSO) 2.9 million MWh of electricity in August (in August 2020 – 0.7 million MWh), which is a record figure for the company, and in the day ahead and intraday markets – 0.6 million MWh. At the same time, during the auctions in the day ahead market in August, about 90% of the declared volumes were accepted, which is currently also the maximum figure for Energoatom (in August 2020, the acceptance was only 32%).

According to Energoatom, the company has fully fulfilled its social obligations by supplying the general public with 2.8 million MWh of electricity required for consumption in September.

"We can say that in trading we have managed to maintain the positive dynamics, which Energoatom-Trading has reached since the beginning of 2021. We have set our internal records upon many indicators – the volume of sales under bilateral agreements, revenue, the percentage of acceptance in the day-ahead market/intraday market, the percentage of imbalances," Hartmut Jacob, Vice-President of Energoatom, Acting Director of Energoatom-Trading, said.

According to him, due to the active position of the Ministry of Energy and operational changes to the market rules approved by the Regulator, it was possible to stabilize the price situation in the market, which will contribute to the proper preparation of electricity producers for the autumn-winter maximum loads.
