Enemy steps up information campaign against background of offensive on strategically important Bakhmut – Maliar
KYIV. March 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The enemy has been excessively stepping up its media campaigns aimed to demoralize the civilians and servicemen against the background of an offensive on Bakhmut, the defense of which is of strategic importance, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar has said.
“Today we can see an excessive intensification of a Russian information campaign accompanying the offensive on Bakhmut. The enemy has been introducing several narratives aimed to demoralize society and servicemen. In particular, [a narrative] that Bakhmut allegedly does not have strategic importance and its defense is allegedly a political decision. This is not true,” she said on the Telegram channel.
Maliar stressed that servicemen have explained many times the meaning and tasks of Bakhmut defense, while top military officials make decisions on conducting military operations.
In addition, the enemy is trying to discredit the military command of the eastern direction by posting fake documents allegedly from the eastern staff.
“With the aim of persuasion, they demonstrate the ‘power’ of the occupiers and the ‘weakness’ of defenders by disclosing alleged plans regarding Bakhmut of both warring parties,” the deputy minister said.
