Employee of Russian FSB informed of suspicion of espionage – Ukrainian PGO

KYIV. Aug 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) of Ukraine has notified of the suspicion of an active employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who from the fall of 2018 until the end of July 2021 collected information representing state secrets in favor of the aggressor state, the PGO reports.

It is noted that the FSB officer involved in this activity a serviceman of the SBU reserve in Kherson region and the deputy head of the SBU Management department in Kherson region, the PGO said on the Telegram channel on Friday.

"With the help of accomplices, an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation managed to collect and transfer to his leadership information and secret and top secret documents – information about the preparation and conduct of the mobilization deployment of the SBU Directorate in Kherson region when transferred to operation in a special period," the Ukrainian PGO informs.

Also, as stated in the message, the spy gave the Russian Federation information about plans to conduct tactical and special exercises, including on the territory of Kherson commercial sea port, command and staff exercises on the territory of field artillery personnel and materials of operational search and counterintelligence activities of the SBU.

"The suspect is currently put on the international wanted list. Also, the serviceman of the SBU reserve in Kherson region, who was informed of suspicion of treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is placed on the wanted list," the message says.

As for the deputy head of the SBU Department in Kherson region, the indictment against him on treason has been sent to court, he is currently in custody.
