Emergency response exercises with participation of representatives from five countries take place in Lviv region

KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Representatives of five countries arrived in Lviv region to participate in the International Field Exercises on Response to Emergencies of Chemical, Radiation and Biological Origin, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.

"Representatives of the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Moldova, as well as rescuers and representatives of the special services of Ukraine," arrived at the territory of the landfill, which is located around the administrative and amenity complex of the southern quarry of the State Enterprise Ecotransenergo (near Lake Yavorivske)," the SES press service said.

Thus, it is envisaged to conduct command-staff and field exercises to work out the issues of interaction between civil protection services in Eastern Europe and the EU civil protection mechanism. The exercises will last for three days and are a continuation of the first part of the exercises that took place in 2018.

The exercises are attended by international organizations, in particular the International Center for Chemical Safety (Warsaw), the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, the UN, OSCE and Interpol.

"Invited observers and representatives of international organizations will monitor the entire exercise process," the message says.
