KYIV. Feb 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas discussed support for Ukraine with ammunition, the press service of the Estonian government reported.

The sides discussed support for the unity of the European Union and NATO, as well as the situation around Ukraine. The meeting discussed the proposal of Prime Minister Kallas on how to jointly and quickly purchase a million artillery shells for Ukraine for EUR 4 billion.

Kallas said at a meeting in Tallinn on Friday that the European Union was able to respond quickly and innovatively together to the COVID crisis. And now it’s time, she said, to show the same ingenuity and speed in sending ammunition to Ukraine.

She also noted that, in addition to supporting Ukraine, it is important that the European defense industry be able to produce in a volume that corresponds to the changed security situation.

The minister stressed that rey areas in European security should become a thing of the past, because they create instability and lead to war. Therefore, Estonia supports Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO after the war, the Prime Minister stressed.
