DTEK interested in small modular reactors at its TPPs – CEO
KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – DTEK Energy Holding has become interested in small modular reactors at its TPPs, DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko has said.
"Today, new technologies are being created. These are small modular reactors. This is something that we must take seriously. Therefore, our company will study these technologies," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, noting at the same time that "this is an outlook for seven, ten or twelve years."
According to him, the company has an understanding that these are technologies of the future, applicable not only within the framework of the further development of National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom, but also thermal power plants, "being a substitute for using coal to generate electricity."
