Draft state budget-2022 includes salary of doctors from UAH 13,500 – Liashko
KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The draft law "On the state budget of Ukraine for 2022", approved by the government on Wednesday and sent to the Verkhovna Rada, provides for an increase in salaries for doctors, the website of the Ministry of Health reported with reference to its head Viktor Liashko.
"In pursuance of the decree of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the draft [of state budget] provides funds for setting the minimum wage for doctors at the level of UAH 20,000, UAH 13,500 for paramedical workers. The increase in wages is a step towards quality medical services, because when doctors and nurses feel the support of the state, they feel protected, motivated and happy," Liashko said.
According to the report, to ensure the specified salary levels, the Medical Benefits Program was increased by UAH 33.8 billion compared to 2021.
In addition, the draft state budget provides for UAH 3.1 billion for the centralized purchase of equipment, in particular for improving the material and technical base of hospitals, bacteriological and physical and chemical laboratories of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the creation of expert-level laboratories for conducting research used in transplantation.
Separately, UAH 2.6 billion is provided for the purchase of vaccines to protect the population from COVID-19. The rest of the funds for vaccines will be covered by international financial organizations.
The budget also provides for the extension of the transplant pilot project – UAH 789.5 million was allocated, which is UAH 288.5 million more than in the current year’s budget. UAH 300 million is provided for the development of the biocluster, which is three times more than it was allocated in 2021 for the launch of this project, with a potential expansion of another UAH 735 million.
