Dpty Head of President's Office meets with Japanese ambassador, receives letter from Emperor Naruhito to Zelensky
KYIV. Aug 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha, who is also the president’s diplomatic adviser, has met with Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori, who handed over a letter from Emperor of Japan Naruhito addressed to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of Independence Day of Ukraine.
"I was sincerely happy to welcome today a real friend of Ukraine – Ambassador of Japan to our state Matsuda Kuninori […] I was honored to receive from Mr. Ambassador a congratulatory letter from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of the 31st Independence Day of Uktaine," he said on Facebook.
The parties also discussed in detail the main issues of bilateral relations and cooperation between Ukraine and Japan within the UN.
"From the unprecedented for Japan defense support for our state (for the first time in the post-war history of this country they provide us with the non-lethal military assistance we need at the front), sanctions against the aggressor state (Tokyo has already introduced 13 packages of such sanctions), nuclear (cynical blackmail of Russia at ZNPP [Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant]) and food security to macrofinancial ($600 million in preferential emergency loan), humanitarian aid (currently $300 million), Fast Recovery Plan and 2,000 Ukrainians sheltered by Japan from Russian aggression," Sybiha stressed.
He also thanked the ambassador for the sign of support for Ukraine in the form of a strong speech by Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida at the second summit of the Crimean Platform.
