Doctors find Saakashvili's health unsatisfactory to attend court hearing on illegal border crossing

TBILISI. Nov 28 (Interfax) – Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is being kept in pretrial detention in Georgia, was again unable to attend a hearing at the Tbilisi City Court for health reasons on Monday.

During the hearing concerning Saakashvili’s presumed illegal crossing of Georgia’s border, the judge announced that the proceedings would be deferred, as doctors found it unadvisable to transport Saakashvili from the hospital where he is currently staying to the courthouse.

The judge did not announce when the next hearing could take place.

Saakashvili’s mother Giuli Alasania told journalists on Monday that she had visited him in the morning and he was willing to show up for the hearing.

"I am really nervous, as I met my son this morning, and everything was as usual, that is, he felt unwell and weak, and he received IV therapy. He was willing to go to the court; he was going to," Alasania said.

She said she planned to travel to the hospital immediately to see whether her son was feeling worse.
