Dispute with Deposit Guarantee Fund over Bank Finance and Credit should be heard in Ukraine – Zhevaho's lawyers

KYIV. Sept 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The dispute between the Deposit Guarantee Fund and the ex-owner of Bank Finance and Credit Kostiantyn Zhevaho should be heard in Ukraine, Zhevaho’s lawyers have said, commenting on the decision of the High Court of Justice that it lacks jurisdiction to consider this case.

"We are pleased that the English court dismissed this case. It should be heard in Ukraine. Bank Finance and Credit should not have been sent for liquidation due to unprofessional and unreasonable actions of the previous management of the National Bank of Ukraine," Zhevaho’s lawyers said, answering to Interfax-Ukraine’s request.

The lawyers added that they considered speculation and untrue information about the media reports that the English court had allegedly recognized the grounds for the seizure.

"We emphasize that the court ruled that it has no jurisdiction to consider this case. The above court did not make any other decisions. Publications in some Ukrainian media are speculative and false," British and Ukrainian lawyers of the ex-owner of Finance and Credit Bank said.

According to the report, the High Court of Justice also ordered the Fund to compensate Zhevago for all financial costs associated with the lawsuit.

The lawyers added that they will continue defending their position and expressed confidence in favorable consideration of the issue.
