Discussion with partners on transfer of Western aircraft to Ukraine continues without pauses – Reznikov

KYIV. Apr 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The discussion with partners on the transfer of Western aircraft to Ukraine continues, the decision on the provision of modern fighters will definitely be made, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said.

“MiG-29 from Poland will significantly strengthen our defense, make our skies safer, save the lives of our citizens, and reduce the destruction from Russian attacks. At the same time, the strategic goal was and remains the transition to modern Western-style aviation platforms that will provide our pilots with advantages over the enemy. So that our air aces could see and could hit the enemy at a greater distance. We continue to move towards this goal. The discussion with partners continues without pauses,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense quoted Reznikov on the Telegram channel as saying.

He also thanked the Slovak partners for the MiG-29s already handed over and stressed that one of the main priorities for Ukraine is to strengthen the air defense and missile defense systems.

“An important component of our defense is air platforms that allow us to respond effectively to challenges. In particular, as a quick response that will give results in a short time, Soviet-style aircraft are suitable for us,” the head of the ministry noted.

The minister expressed confidence that the decision to provide Ukraine with Western aircraft will definitely be made.
