Deutsche Bahn E&C to provide recommendations on modernization of Ukrzaliznytsia's passenger transportation by late 2021

KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Specialists of Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting have begun work on a project to improve passenger transportation in Ukraine and have created project teams in three main areas.

According to a posting on the Ukrzaliznytsia’s website on Thursday, following the results of the first week of work, its specialists and Deutsche Bahn E&C have created project groups in three areas: development of a business plan for passenger transportation; introduction of a passenger transportation financing system; and support for the purchase of passenger rolling stock.

In addition, an introductory meeting of the project coordinating committee was held with the participation of acting Board Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Kamyshin, representatives of the supervisory board of the company, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Finance.

Deutsche Bahn E&C received all the necessary documents and developments of Ukrzaliznytsia, the work plan of the project teams was also determined, the details of the terms of reference for the consultant were clarified and the priority work priorities were set.

"Deutsche Bahn E&C specialists presented the first results of the analysis of technical requirements for electric trains that will be procured for the Kyiv City Express project. They also identified the key elements of the passenger transportation business plan and announced the first developments of the passenger service model. They will be discussed by representatives Deutsche Bahn E&C, Ukrzaliznytsia and relevant ministries during October," the company said.

Deutsche Bahn E&C is expected to provide a draft report on recommendations for modernizing passenger transport by the end of 2021.
