Department of State promises to appoint US ambassador to Ukraine soon – Senator Portman
KYIV. Jan 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The U.S. Department of State promises to appoint a U.S. ambassador to Ukraine in the near future, co-chair of the Ukraine Support Group in the U.S. Senate Rob Portman (R-Ohio) has said.
Portman told Radio Liberty that he is very disappointed in Joe Biden administration that they did not appoint a person to this post sooner. The senator said that he again discussed this issue with the Department of State last week, and they assured him that an experienced, career diplomat will be appointed soon.
