Denisova demands from Russia's Prosecutor General to conduct check in connection with searches at place of activist Krasnov's mother in Crimea

KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Ombudswoman Liudmyla Denisova has appealed to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation with a demand to immediately check the actions regarding the illegal entry into the premises of a citizen of Ukraine, the mother of Ukrainian volunteer and public activist Stanyslav Krasnov.

"I received information that today at 6:00 in the temporarily occupied Crimea, 12 employees of the so-called ‘Investigative Department of the FSB of Simferopol’ broke down the door and broke into the apartment of a citizen of Ukraine, the mother of a Ukrainian volunteer and social activist Stanyslav Krasnov," Denisova wrote on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.

According to the Ombudswoman, the searches in the house of the 74-year-old woman lasted for three hours "with an absolute violation of procedural rights without any explanation and clarification of the rights, duties and procedures for conducting investigative actions, without providing the original court decision or the investigator’s order, and also without lawyers." … Following disturbances, furniture was broken and personal belongings were damaged. The telephone and other electronic media were seized without the involvement of a technical specialist, mandatory copying of materials and proper registration.

Then the woman was taken to the "investigative department of the FSB", where she was unreasonably kept for several hours.

The Ombudswoman considers such illegal and cynical actions of representatives of the so-called "police, FSB and investigative committee" against a Ukrainian citizen to be nothing more than persecution for the pro-Ukrainian position of her son, who lives in government-controlled territory.

Denisova turned to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation with a demand to immediately check the actions regarding the illegal entry into the premises of a citizen of Ukraine and her further detention.

In addition, the Ombudswoman demands from the Human Rights Ombudswoman in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova to urgently take measures to restore the rights of a Ukrainian citizen and prevent such cases in the future with respect to citizens of Ukraine.
