Demand for electric vehicles in Ukraine almost doubles in Aug

KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Some 1,489 electric vehicles replenished the Ukrainian car fleet in August, which is almost twice as much as in the same month of 2022, but 14% less than in July this year, Ukrautoprom reports.

According to a statement on the association’s website on Wednesday, the majority of registered electric vehicles were passenger cars – 1,397 units (152 new and 1,245 used).

Nissan Leaf remains the most popular electric car with 297 registrations in August, Volkswagen ID.4 is second with 154, and Volkswagen e-Golf is third with 150.

The fourth most popular electric car was Renault Zoe – 97 units, and Tesla Model 3 closed the top five of the August electric car market, with 60 registrations.

Of the 92 commercial electric vehicles that received Ukrainian license plates last month, 40 were Renault Kangoo Z.E.

In general, in January-August, 7,366 electric vehicles passed the first registration in Ukraine, which is 42% more than in the same period in 2021.
