Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods doubles in H1 2022 – statistics

KYIV. Aug 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The deficit of Ukraine’s foreign trade in goods in January-June 2022 doubled compared to the same period in 2021 – to $2.468 billion from $1.227 billion, the State Statistics Service reported.

According to its data, exports of goods from Ukraine during the reporting period decreased by 24% compared to the first half of 2021 – to $22.732 billion, imports – by 19.1%, to $25.2 billion.

The State Statistics Service specified that in June this year, compared to May 2022, the seasonally adjusted volume of exports increased by 18.6%, to $3.576 billion, and imports by 27.6%, to $4.984 billion.

The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance in June 2022 was negative and amounted to $1.408 billion, while in May 2022 it was also negative and amounted to $889.9 million.

The export-to-import coverage ratio for the six months of 2022 amounted to 0.90 (in January-June 2021 – 0.96).

The service specified that foreign trade operations were carried out with partners from 221 countries of the world.
