Defense Minister asks not to confuse alienation of shares of five enterprises to state with nationalization
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The alienation of shares of JSC Motor Sich, Zaporizhtransformator, AvtoKrAZ, Ukrnafta, and Ukrtatnafta into state ownership is not nationalization, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said.
"This is not nationalization, don’t use this term. It’s a direct seizure of property during martial law – these are completely different legal forms," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov stressed that in wartime the state has the right and is obliged to make appropriate decisions.
Answering a question about the possibility of such a seizure in relation to other enterprises, he noted: "It will depend on how much they will influence the state in which our country will be."
