Crops from 4% of fields left to be harvested by Ukrainian farmers, including corn from 10% – Ministry of Agrarian Policy
KYIV. Jan 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – By January 27, 2023, Ukrainian agrarians harvested 78.7 million tonnes of main agricultural crops (1.4 million tonnes more in a week) from 18.4 million hectares (0.1 million hectares more), including grain and 52.6 million tonnes of leguminous crops were harvested.
As reported on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on Friday, over the week, the total area of farmland from which the harvest increased by 1 percentage point (p.p.), to 96% of the previously planned areas, including corn remained to be harvested from 10% of areas (3 p.p. more in a week).
The harvesting of wheat, barley, peas, rapeseed, soybeans and sugar beets has been completed, buckwheat remains to be harvested from 2% of the area, and millet and sunflower from 1% each.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the final harvest of wheat this season amounted to 20.2 million tonnes harvested from 5 million hectares, barley – 5.8 million tonnes from 1.7 million hectares, soybeans – 3.7 million tonnes from 1.5 million hectares, rapeseed – 3.2 million tonnes from 1.1 million hectares, peas – 269,000 tonnes from 118,000 hectares, sugar beet – 9 million tonnes from 180,000 hectares.
In addition, by January 27, a total of 25.2 million tonnes of corn (0.8 million tonnes more in a week) were harvested from 3.8 million hectares (0.1 million hectares more), 10.5 million tonnes of sunflower from 4.8 million hectares, 158,000 tonnes of buckwheat from 116,000 hectares and 102,000 tonnes of millet from 45,000 hectares.
According to the ministry, the average yield for all crops in the current season was 4.76 tonnes per ha, including corn – 6.65 tonnes per ha, wheat – 4.05 tonnes per ha, barley – 3.47 tonnes per ha, rape – 2.86 tonnes per ha, soybeans – 2.43 tonnes per ha, peas – 2.28 tonnes per ha, millet – 2.28 tonnes per ha, sunflower – 2.17 tonnes per ha, buckwheat – 1.37 tonnes per ha, sugar beet – 50.1 tonnes per ha.
Farmers of Poltava region threshed 5.5 million tonnes of grain during the season, Vinnytsia – 4.05 million tonnes, Kirovohrad – 4.02 million tonnes, Cherkasy and Khmelnytsky – 3.9 million tonnes each. The latter also recorded the highest grain yield – 7.08 tonnes per ha.
