Criminal proceedings on shelling of Avdiyivka initiated – JFO HQ
KYIV. Aug 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Criminal proceedings have been initiated into the shelling of civilian infrastructure in Avdiyivka (Donetsk region) on Saturday, according to the Joint Force Operation (JFO) Facebook page.
"The occupation-forces fired 120 mm mortars and 122 mm artillery prohibited by the Minsk agreements. As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure of the city was damaged. There were no casualties among the local population," the JFO said.
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission has been informed about the shelling. "Criminal proceedings have been initiated on this fact," the JFO said.
It is noted that the Ukrainian servicemen gave an adequate response to the shelling, "stopping the enemy’s fire activity."
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia was forced to restrict the movement of trains near the Avdiyivka station due to artillery shelling from the territory not controlled by Ukraine.
The company said the shelling started on the morning of August 28. Avdiyivka station workers and passengers were evacuated to shelters.
