Crimean Reintegration Association appeals to French parliament due to visit of deputy Lambert to Crimea for elections to Russian Duma

KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy of the French National Assembly from the socialist bloc Jérôme Lambert, who was in Russian-occupied Crimea on September 17-19 as a "foreign observer" in the illegal elections to the State Duma of Russia, was the only public politician who arrived at this event from a third state with official status, while this is the fourth visit of a French politician to the occupied peninsula since 2015, the Association for the Reintegration of Crimea said.

In this regard, the association appealed to the leadership of the French National Assembly, to the relevant parliamentary committees and to all Lambert’s colleagues in the faction and the leadership of the parties that form it. "In our presentation it was noted that the actions of the French parliamentarian Lambert not only contradict the position of France and the EU and the norms of international law on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was pointed out that they are also a form of direct assistance to massive violations of human rights, international crimes and racial discrimination of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people and other ethnic groups," the association said.

The association said that on the eve of Lambert’s arrival in Crimea, the European Parliament, in resolution 2021/2042, called for the imposition of sanctions on those who ensure the elections to the Russian parliament in the occupied peninsula, and the French Foreign Ministry declared the deliberate nullity of this vote.

According to the report, the presentation has already received first responses from French political forces, in particular from the Socialist Party.
