Creditors of insolvent banks receive almost UAH 3.6 bln in 2021

KYIV. Jan 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Creditors of insolvent banks received UAH 3.569 billion in repayments in 2021, the Deposit Guarantee Fund reported on its website.

According to the report, UAH 1.03 billion was used to repay the claims of third priority creditors, including payments in the amount of UAH 200,000. Some UAH 45.1 million was allocated for the repayment of the fourth stage claims (claims of individuals above the guaranteed amount), and UAH 2.243 billion was allocated for the seventh stage repayment (persons not related to the bank).

Out of the total amount, UAH 1.245 billion was allocated for extraordinary repayment of NBU claims at the expense of funds from Rodovid Bank (UAH 276.7 million), Imexbank (UAH 251.5 million), Finance and Credit Bank (UAH 239.4 million), Misto Bank (UAH 160.9 million), Delta Bank (UAH 146.4 million), Financial Initiative Bank (UAH 141.4 million), Zlatobank (UAH 18.8 million) and Cambio Bank (UAH 10.2 million)

In general, as of January 1, 2022, the claims of creditors of insolvent banks were repaid in the total amount of UAH 55.884 billion, including UAH 16.963 billion for repayment of secured creditors’ claims, UAH 15.683 billion for satisfying the NBU’s claims.

As of January 1, 2022, the fund filed 72 claims against 45 banks (under Part 5 of Article 52 of the law on the system of guaranteeing deposits of individuals). Defendants associated with these banks are 821 people. The total amount of these claims is UAH 100.81 billion.

In addition, the fund filed 27 civil lawsuits in criminal proceedings against 19 banks, the consideration of which is ongoing. The defendants are 59 people. The total amount of claims is UAH 16.263 billion.

The fund also initiated five legal proceedings for compensation for damage caused by criminal offenses against five banks. The total number of defendants is five people. The amount of claims filed is UAH 2.66 billion.
