COVID-19 outbreak already started, we'll see increase in incidence rate – expert
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – An outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus disease has started, Ukraine will see an increase in incidence rate soon, Head of the National Technical Expert Group on Immunization Fedir Lapiy says.
"It can be predicted that in the near future we will see an increase in the incidence rate, because we do not fulfill many "quarantine" rules. Frankly, since February 24, we have already stopped wearing masks, we have stopped keeping our distance. With the return of children to school, we have received another factor in the spread of the COVID-19 pathogen. That is, in the near future we can only talk about an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases," he said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency.
Lapiy said that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion much has been done to provide the regions, including frontline districts, with express tests.
"However, under conditions of active migration of the population it is a problem to have clear statistics," he said.
