Court rules to recover Yanukovych's assets worth dozens of millions of hryvnias as state income – SBI
KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) ruled to seize and recover the assets of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych worth dozens of millions of hryvnias as state income, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has said.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the SBI has been taking measures to expose traitors and collaborators, identify their property, including indirectly controlled through third parties, and recover assets to the state, it said on the Telegram channel on Thursday.
"The pre-trial investigation established that the fourth president of Ukraine in March 2010 received an instruction from the president of the Russian Federation on the need to extend the deployment of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation for 25 years. This posed a direct threat to the national security of Ukraine, however, the decision was made […] For real compensation for the damage caused by traitors the State Bureau of Investigation transferred the accumulated materials of the criminal proceedings to the Justice Ministry of Ukraine for filing a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court for the recovery of the assets of the fourth president of Ukraine and the persons who formally registered as their owners to the state," the SBI said.
In particular, according to the SBI, previously seized more than UAH 31 million and $85,000, as well as 537 historical and cultural values worth around EUR 19 million, and real estate of the ex-president and persons close to them, were recovered to state revenue.
