Court postpones consideration of PrivatBank ex-co-owner Boholiubov's claim to invalidate bail-in procedure

KYIV. Aug 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Kyiv Economic Court again postponed consideration of the lawsuit filed by ex-co-owner of PrivatBank (Kyiv) Hennadiy Boholiubov to invalidate contracts for the purchase and sale of shares in the financial institution, the bank’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

According to the bank, the hearing of the case was postponed to September 5 due to the provision of evidence by Boholiubov outside the procedural deadlines.

The bank stressed that the lawsuit contradicts the law on the system of guaranteeing deposits of individuals who are prohibited from demanding shares from an investor, which is the state.

In addition, at the time of filing the lawsuit, the statute of limitations had already passed, the financial institution noted.

As reported, in December 2016, the government, at the suggestion of the NBU and the shareholders of PrivatBank, the largest of which at that time were Ihor Kolomoisky and Boholiubov, decided to nationalize the financial institution. The state received 100% in its capital, and PrivatBank was recapitalized for UAH 116.8 billion.
