KYIV. May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At the initiative of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), the court has ordered to seize the corporate rights and accounts of economic entities belonging to relatives of Ukrainian MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak.

As reported on the website of the State Bureau of Investigations on Thursday, there was more than UAH 40 million on the seized accounts.

"On Wednesday, employees of the Territorial Department of the SBI in Lviv conducted new searches at facilities related to the families of the deputies. Investigative actions took place at six addresses, one of them in Kyiv region, the rest in Lviv region. The searches were carried out as part of criminal proceedings on suspicion of abuse of authority or office and violation of rules related to the protection of mineral resources and laundering proceeds from crime (Article 364, Article 240, Part 2 of Article 29 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Relatives of Kozak and Medvedchuk are the subjects of criminal proceedings who illegally mined sand at two quarries in Lviv region," the SBI said.

During the investigation, valuable paintings, antiques, and other valuables were seized from relatives of the deputies. In the future, the SBI intends to seize them and transfer to the National Asset Management Agency.

The bureau also recalled that on April 27 they had already conducted searches at 22 objects in Lviv region belonging to the relatives of the deputies.

"The State Bureau of Investigations continues to work on finding and transferring funds and property obtained in a dubious way for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the bureau said.
