Construction of Krakovets-Brody-Rivne concession road planned to start in 2022
KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine considers it necessary to accelerate the implementation of a project for construction and operation of a concession road along the route Krakovets-Brody-Rivne.
As reported on the government’s website, on Tuesday, December 7, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on the implementation of public-private partnership within the framework of this project. Its participants presented the main parameters of the road: its length should be about 280 km, the route time should be reduced from 4.20 hours to 2.5 hours. The road is designed for a speed of 130 km per hour. The project will be implemented in three stages.
The Cabinet of Ministers noted that the first work on the project should begin as early as 2022.
"Construction of the concession motorway is one of the most anticipated projects for the country. The lack of such roads for 30 years is an economic crime against the Ukrainian state. Krakovets-Brody-Rivne should become the first public-private partnership project in construction and operation of roads. We must start its implementation as soon as possible," Shmyhal emphasized.
According to Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, information collection has been completed on the project route: all materials have been analyzed, traffic intensity measurements and technical design have been made, in particular, three options for the route have been developed.
As reported, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine in 2022 expects to start two pilot projects for concession of highways on the principle of "accessibility fees."
